Video Productions have finalised a new DVD for the Magpie Community Foil Recycling Project run by Andover Day Services in East Portway industrial estate in Andover. The Magpie project provides a great safe working environment for service users to acquire skills and further themselves in a learning environment.
Magpie recycling is run by Andover Day Services and provides useful activity for its service suers who contribute to the project. There are approximately 25 - 30 foil collection bins across Hampshire where members of the public are asked to deposit washed aluminium foil. The foil is collected, sorted, crushed, bagged and weighed and then taken to a local metal recycling centre who pay for the aluminium.
The Magpie project is run in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council and has a good future and there are desires to take the project into a full social enterprise.
The new DVD shows the collection process, the sorting and the final delivery to the reclamation centre. It features presentations from service users and staff at Andover Day Services plus a contribution by Mr Mike Pratt - Recycling Officer from Test Valley Environmental Services.
If you run an establishment that uses aluminium foil which normally ends up in the bin then watch the video, ask for a bin and start to contribute - GO Silver - green....
